San Diego, CA — The San Diego Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA San Diego), Conscious Capitalism San Diego, and San Diego Nonprofit Association have joined forces to co-host the 19th annual Cause ConferenceTM, themed Maximizing Your Impact through the Power of Purpose. The West Coast’s premier event for entrepreneurs, marketers, and business leaders of purpose-driven organizations will take place on September 8, 2017 at the University of California, San Diego’s Price Center, 9500 Gilman Drive, La Jolla, CA. The conference begins with a Pre-Conference kick off event, Thursday, September 7th, 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. The Cause Conference begins on Friday, September 8th from 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The event is followed by a cocktail reception from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Registration is $179 for members of any of the three hosting organizations and $299 for non-members. For registration and additional information please visit www.CauseSD.org. The Cause Conference provides an educational, engaging and impactful learning experience and networking opportunities between purpose-driven business, marketing, and nonprofit leaders. Some of the exciting guest speakers for this event include:

Neville Billimoria, SVP Membership & Chief Advocacy Officer, Mission Federal Credit Union; Board Director & Executive Committee Member, UC San Diego Alumni Association; Board Member, San Diego Nonprofit Association;
Tom Curren, Founder & President, Hawthorne Edge; former Consultant, Blu Skye Sustainability; former SVP Corporate Planning and Business Development, Marriott International;
Denise Pirrotti-Hummel, Chief Innovation Officer at Lead Inclusively, Inc. and EY Principal (Alum);
Beth Sirull, President & CEO, Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego

Neville Billimoria, honorary co-chair, stated, “It’s time to reimagine San Diego not just as America’s Finest City, but as America’s Kindest and Most Purposeful Region. An outcome of this year’s conference is to explore the creation of a Chamber of Purpose for San Diego that can model and mentor purpose-driven leadership, principles and practices to positively transform our region.”

Denise Pirrotti-Hummel, Chief Innovation Officer at Lead Inclusively, Inc., added, “A critical element of being a conscious culture is an inclusive culture; the two go hand in hand. What’s more, only leaders who know how to activate the ‘inclusion’ component of “diversity and inclusion” can get the best from their diverse workforce. Innovation requires diverse thought and a sense of being engaged and invested in one’s organization. If diverse minds don’t feel enough sense of belonging within their organization to express their ideas, innovation never even sees the light of day.”

The Cause Conference targets multiple audiences with key opportunities. Takeaways include how to build a purpose-driven organization and use the tools and ideals from the conference to achieve impactful, measurable results, and how to improve employee and stakeholder engagement to optimize job satisfaction, performance and profitability. In addition, attendees will receive guidance on how to nurture the well-being of individuals for a more fulfilled and engaged culture; and how to make a positive impact on the lives of their stakeholders, audiences, communities and the planet. They will also garner strategies for creating or enhancing the equity of a purpose-driven brand.

Nonprofit leaders will learn how to grow awareness for their organization and its cause, build capacity and improve operational capabilities and develop stronger fundraising mechanism. Students will gain insight about how to align their own personal values with purpose driven principles in their own search for meaning.

“Now more than ever, US consumers seek—rather demand—to purchase from brands that positively impact the world,” said David Palmer, Immediate Past President, AMA San Diego. “The 19th annual Cause Conference will be a transformative experience for San Diego’s purpose-driven businesses and organizations, including those which aspire to elevate their impact. As a senior marketer, I attend Cause Conference to gain practical tools and ideas to enrich brand equity, optimize campaign performance, and fulfill our mission. I always leave Cause Conference with newfound inspiration, skills,
and a meaningful network of collaborative, purpose-minded professionals.”
