TITLE:                        Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator

STATUS:                    Full Time, Exempt

The Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator is a key component to the Development Department supporting an annual budget of nearly $4 million.  The Coordinator is responsible for the marketing and outreach strategy and supporting activities for the Foundation including, but not limited to development of marketing materials, press releases, and stories for the web, social media and e-blasts.  The Coordinator will also write and update content for the website, newsletter and direct mail pieces.  This position supports Promises2Kids internal and external communication efforts, which are critical to raising awareness for the organization through media, marketing, website and new social media presence.




§  Develop and maintain communication calendar for Facebook, e-blasts, e-newsletters, twitter, and Instagram.

§  Collaborate with various departments to create an effective social media strategy, which will include researching organizations that might “friend” Promises2Kids on various platforms, writing and posting messages, and uploading photos and video.

§  Develop a messaging and marketing plan, and create materials to support our campaigns that include Champions for Youth and 31-day Challenge.

§  Producing an effective nonprofit marketing campaign by developing marketing materials, writing press releases and producing powerful E-newsletters, writing and editing content and uploading photos/videos for the website, and creating promotional packets for Promises2Kids constituents.

§  Work in conjunction with the development department to strengthen cause marketing participation.

§  Coordinate an effective media campaign by pitching the media and maintaining an up-to-date media contact list, researching new media opportunities (web portals, radio PSAs, calendar listings), and creating a reference library for future campaigns by organizing press binders.

§  Develop communication materials by interviewing constituents for testimonials and stories of their experience with Promises2Kids, and writing powerful stories for use in newsletters, media releases, e-blasts, and fundraising campaigns.

§  Work in conjunction with the development department to secure media sponsors and coverage for the events, and liaison with sponsors to secure logos, advertisements and other promotional materials.

§  Other duties as assigned.




§  Experience in non-profit marketing.

§  Experience writing direct mail, newsletter and other collateral materials.

§  Experience in Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and design software including Apple’s pages, and Adobe Illustrator.

§  Prior experience with Social Media.

§  Demonstrate professional writing skills.

§  Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a variety of people and represent Promises2Kids in a positive and professional manner to all staff, visitors, donors, and the community.

§  Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and to complete and report on assignments.

§  Ability to work under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines.

§  Able to work as part of a close-knit team.

§  Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, diplomacy and tact.

§  Ability to pay attention to detail and also remain oriented to the “big picture” and established goals.

§  Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.

§  Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

§  Must be able to successfully pass the child abuse clearance, fingerprinting, and background check.

§  Must possess reliable personal transportation and meet insurance requirements.
