AMA San Diego Leaders Rock Regional Retreat

AMA San Diego board members joined leaders from the Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Orange County and Phoenix chapters to share best practices and strategize for the months ahead.

Annual gathering compares best practices of neighboring chapters

So what were 11 members of the AMA San Diego board of directors doing in Marina Del Rey on a Saturday in November? Was this some kind of boondoggle?

Not exactly. We were there to learn from other southwestern U.S. AMA chapters and share our own best practices at the 2017 AMA Regional Retreat.

Now, it would be untruthful for us to say there weren’t some fun and games. Hosted by AMA Los Angeles, we were also joined for the day-and-a-half session by passionate marketers from Orange County, the Inland Empire and Phoenix.

But we gathered to discuss exciting programming ideas, communication innovations, member and sponsor value, and member career development opportunities.

The group was especially interested to hear about our 2017 State of Marketing Report – the San Diego Perspective. We explained how this thought-leading project came about and discussed ways other chapters could launch similar initiatives in their communities.

The San Diego team returned home eager to dive into planning the remainder of the fiscal year while making use of the lessons learned in L.A.
