More about The San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) Energy Innovation Center 

The Center, which opened in 2012, is one of the most eco-friendly  buildings around that is open to the public. This solar-paneled building  runs on only one battery- the sun- and is 85 percent made from recycled  material.

The Center was once a grocery store but is now one of only 10 buildings in the world to achieve double LEED® Platinum certification. (Platinum is the highest rating in the LEED® – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design- certification system of the U.S. Green Building Council®. The Center earned LEED Platinum for New Construction and Major Renovation in August 2012, and Existing Buildings: Operation and Maintenance (EBOM®) in December 2013.)

More than 30,000 people visited the Center last year for tours and seminars. We encourage you to tour the facility after the social media panel discussion, which is from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
